It’s an honour to give this message of congratulations to Narendra Modi on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Under his leadership India is emerging as the world’s next democratic superpower – and isn’t that so important right now!

Almost no prime minister has been as able as Mr. Modi to push change-for-the-better through a legendarily difficult system.

As an Australian, I’m delighted to see the Modi-led reinvigoration of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue linking Australia and India with Japan and the United States.

My hope is that by the time of his next anniversary, the long-sought free trade deal between our two countries will have been finalised.

I’m sure it’s his rigorous practice of yoga that keeps him young and helps him to “keep the faith”.

We need leaders with conviction and with faith in their country and its best values. Bravo Narendra Modi!
