Rajnikant Devidasbhai Shroff, popularly known as Rajju Shroff, is an Indian businessman. He is the founder of United Phosphorus Limited (UPL) and is currently the Chairman and Managing Director. He was the Founder-President of Vapi Industries Association and Association of Small and Medium Chemical Manufacturers.

Today is the birthday of the most celebrated Prime Minister of our country, Shri Narendra Modi. I think that the stature of the work of a person like Himalaya is considered, not his age. In today’s time, we Indians are feeling a sense of blessed. Which makes us proud to be Indians.  He is a man who with the spirit of world welfare,  mounting the impact of his work in society, country and the world. The year 2014 is marked as a significant year in the history of Indian politics. Decades later, the people of the country gave a clear mandate to any political party to form a government with an absolute majority. In the first 5 years of the Narendra Modi government, the general public of the country experienced positive changes in their lives. The Modi government succeeded to provide a transparent, accountable, corruption-free regime. With the spirit of Antyodaya, historical decisions were taken in the interest of the whole society, giving priority to the interests of the poor, laborers and farmers standing on the last step of the society.

To eliminate terrorist activities along the border, operations such as surgical strike and air strike were successfully conducted without compromising our national security. This has raised the self-esteem of the people of the country, while on the world stage, India has felt the pride for the nation under the leadership of Narendra Modi. The spirit of welfare of the poor people of the country remained at the center of the Modi government’s schemes. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, toilets were constructed in urban and rural areas of the country with a resolve to serve cleanliness. In my view, this work of Narendra Modi is brilliant. In 2019, the people of India re-mandated the Modi government to rule by a greater majority than in 2014, thereby supporting the policies of the Narendra Modi government 1.0 based on development measures, no corruption, welfare of poor, and to raise the level of national security and global credibility.

With the core mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’, the Narendra Modi government ruled the Center for the second time in 2019. This one year of the Modi government 2.0 is important for many historical decisions along the scale of development.

Accomplishing the goal of ‘Ek Bharat – Shresth Bharat’ , it has taken a bold decision to abolish Sections 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir.  J&K and Ladakh were declared as Union Territories. Our government show the human values of our culture by implementing The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, paving the way for citizenship for the people of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Christian and Parsi communities who came to India as refugees due to religious persecution from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court gave unanimous decision for the construction of Shri Ram Temple, the center of faith of crores of Indians. It was truly the success of the Narendra Modi government that such a positive atmosphere was created in the country that not a single incident which broke communal harmony took place.

I am into the business of agro-based products. And since our industry is connected with the agricultural industry, we have a close relationship with the farmers of the country. I am watching the work of the Modi government prudently. I believe that the Modi government is acting with ‘farmer friendly’ approach to bring prosperity and happiness in the lives of the farmers of India.  By offering an input price of 6000 rupees per year to 14.5 crore farmers of the country, it provided the moral support to the farmers to meet their initial requirements related to farming. In the last one year, an amount of 72,000 crores has been provided in the accounts of 9.5 crore farmers under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana .

For us, ensuring national security is a question related to India’s pride. The decision to appoint ‘Chief of Defense Staff’ was taken with a view of better coordination amongst  the three armies of India. The policy of ‘Zero tolerance’ against terrorism was further strengthened through the amendment of the ‘Unlawful Activities Prevention Act’. The relief amount provided to the families of the martyrs who laid down their lives in defense of the country was increased four times to 8 lakh rupees. To further strengthen Indian forces, the first consignment of Rafael aircraft was received from France under the Rafael Agreement.

Meanwhile, the world faced Covid-19 pandemic. Today, the whole world including India is fighting against it. In this time of crisis, our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has shown indomitable courage, patience, will and wisdom. In this era of crisis, our legendary Prime Minister gave the mantra to transform ‘Adversity into Opportunity’. To fulfill this objective, a package of 20 lakh crores was announced and with that ‘Aatmnirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan’  was launched. Hon’ble Prime Minister laid down 5 pillars for a self-reliant India… Economy, Infrastructure, Technology Based System, Vibrant Demography, Demand for Supply Chain.

Under the Self-Reliant India Campaign, a provision of funding 1 lakh crore has been made to develop agricultural infrastructure for the benefit of the farmers. A provision of 30,000 crore has been made for NABARD, which will ensure loan facility to about 3 crore small and marginal farmers. A provision of 10 thousand crores has been made for micro food enterprise to benefit the farmers. Amendments in the Essential Commodities Act have been announced through this campaign, so that farmers will get the right price for their crops.

In five months, almost all economies around the world have succumbed to the Corona virus. The subject of making India self-reliant has again become talk of the town for the last few days. The impact of Corona Virus on global economy has made it clear that now it’s the time to go for ‘Swadeshi’ . On the evening of May 12th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi allied the possible picture of India emerging post Covid-19 with a pledge of indigenous and self-reliance. Swadeshi and ‘Self-reliance of India’ are two sides of a coin. Now, we must ensure the path of our progress and development keeping in mind our national culture, our tradition, current needs and future aspirations. We should do an in-depth study,  analysis of the Western paradigms or examples and if possible also benefit from it. But we should not make the mistake of assuming it the ideal model of our future development. Indigenous economics states that we will cooperate with all countries economically, but by keeping our interests safe.

The Prime Minister himself made it clear that the self-reliant India campaign is inspired by the spirit of global welfare and is not at all self-centered. For the success of this campaign, he urged the people of the nation to adopt indigenous products and emphasized to go ‘Vocal for Local’. There is a fabulous atmosphere of indigenous and nationalism in the country these days. It is necessary for every country to be indigenous to the object and the thinking of the person, but for a diverse country like India, it is said to be more appropriate. While the issue of Swadeshi is more emotional and more instantaneous, but this is a time when if we really consider it, even if we do not become world leader, even if we do not become the super power of the universe, or the ‘Golden Bird’ again but its sure that we can become a nation which is self- reliant, skilled and with strong economy that is not dependent.

Under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the BJP Government at the Center is moving forward on the path of continuous development and progress for the last 6 years. With the core maxim of “Sabka Saath – Sabka Vikas – Sabka Vishwas” establishing India as a superpower on the global stage is the only ambition of Narendra Modi government.

The Modi government is committed to providing social, economic development with transparent and accountable governance to the country. I am assured that in the coming years, under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India will continue on the path of sustainable development and we will attain new heights. I convey my best wishes through the Shroff family and the UPL family to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for a long life with good health and prosperity. We wish that the Prime Minister of our country, Narendra Modi, whose ambition is to make the nation and the world healthy and flourishing,  may blessed with a healthy and prosperous life.
