The people world over, including many global leaders, wonder about the secret to Hon. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modiji’s fitness and energy. Only a true yogi can have such a glow on his face and mindful body language along with such an active lifestyle. And I have personally witnessed the same when I have met him in person. It has been my pleasure to be honored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji on two significant occasions. I have had the privilege to celebrate the world’s first International Day of Yoga at Rajpath, New Delhi on June 21, 2015 with Hon. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modiji. On behalf of The Yoga Institute, I am also humbled and grateful to receive the prestigious ‘Prime Minister’s Award for Outstanding Contribution for Promotion and Development of Yoga’ from Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2019. As a society, we are blessed to be led by such a leader who leads a healthy and a holistic life.

Shri Narendra Modi is the first ever Indian Prime Minister to be born after Independence. He values hard work and sincerely connects to the sufferings of the common people. Thereby, from a very young age, he has immersed himself in service of people and the nation.

Revered as the ‘People’s Leader’, he is dutifully dedicated to solve their problems and improve their well-being. He connects with people in person as well as maintains a strong digital presence for the netizens. Considered to be India’s most techno-savvy leader, he also optimizes the web to reach to the masses, especially the youth, and transform their lives.

Leading with his motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’, Shri Modi ji has pioneered an uplifting and self-reliant move in the country.

It is interesting to know that along with politics, Shri Narendra Modiji is also an ardent writer and poet. He is most passionate about Yoga with which he begins his day to strengthen his body and calm the mind to cope up with the demanding and fast-paced routine.

While he has been conferred various prestigious honours, throughout the world, I admire the way he has generated stupendous honour for India’s rich history and culture. Narendra Modi’s passionate appeal for marking a day as ‘International Day of Yoga’ received an overwhelming response at the UN. And for the first time, 177 Nations passed the resolution to declare 21st June as the ‘International Day of Yoga.

Lauded for his efforts to prioritise universal health coverage, he has been promoting ancient Indian art and science of Yoga which has rendered benefits to billions across the world. I respect his habitual disciplined routine which includes breathing exercises and meditation practice. This has garnered him fame for being an epitome of unparalleled energy.  With due respect, I give him full credit for transforming yoga into a global phenomenon.

The Prime Minister uses every possible platform to encourage people to practice yoga.  Promoting one of the most precious gifts given by the ancient Indian sages to humankind, he states that yoga is a holistic way of life that stresses harmony between man and nature. He also adds, “Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together! It beautifully combines gyan (knowledge), karm (work), and bhakti (devotion).” I resonate with his statement, Yoga goes beyond boundaries of age, gender, caste, creed, religion and nations.

On his 70th birthday, we send our best wishes to this global leader, who is an inspiration to billions. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi we thank you for promoting Yoga way of living as well as raising the happiness and health quotient of India.
